Nintendo has started an official Animal Crossing: New Horizons Instagram account that was specifically created to put the spotlight on villagers in their homes. The Japanese account will presumably show-off the immaculately decorated interiors of many players.

The account named ‘animalcrossing_official’ has stated its intent to introduce island villagers and “their everyday life.” There has only been one post added so far that shows a series of screenshots in a slideshow format featuring the yellow bird Twiggy. The video has gained almost 80,000 views since it was posted 6 hours ago and features over 160 comments from Japanese users who gave the post a lot of hearts. The account is only following Nintendo Japan and is expected to send out villager features every day with there perhaps being an option for users to send in their own photos of their homes.

Animal Crossing World on Twitter promoted the new Instagram account to western AC:NH players who had similar reactions. A fair amount of excitement was caused by Twiggy’s feature with players confirming she’s a top-tier character and confessing that the angry looking bird was their favorite. Twiggy seems generally accepted within the Animal Crossing community, unlike Barold and Beardo. Aside from Tom Nook’s relentless whining when asking for the villagers to pay rent, Bertha the hippo seems to receive a lot of negativity from players. YouTuber Wood Hawker from BeatEmUps dedicated an entire video to removing the hippo from his island because of her endless chasing.

New Horizons is a relaxing and comforting game, much like Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon, except it has a ridiculous amount of customization options for players to lose hours to. The simulation game does carry an extra twist with its idyllic offer of escapism by allowing other NPC villagers to either invade or generously contribute to your island. As most games tend to come with some challenging aspects to it, New Horizons goes that extra mile to balance the pure joy of interior decorating with searing rage at unwelcome guests.

Nintendo’s Instagram is a great platform for fans to share their creations with other players that will allow inspiration to flow within the community. It will enable players to flaunt their prized possessions within their homes that are usually bursting with personality — unless Rodney stops by to ruin the vibe.
