It seems that Alph and Olimar won’t get sore backs from carrying the 2nd half of the Nintendo Switch’s 2020 schedule, as Nintendo has announced an Indie World Direct that is due to take place tomorrow.

Nintendo has wholeheartedly embraced indie and third-party developers during the Switch era, which was prompted by the vast empty spaces in the Wii U’s schedule throughout its lifespan. The Switch has become an indie darling machine, with the portable nature of the system making it the number one choice for consumers when compared to home consoles. Nintendo has been dedicating entire Directs to indie games coming to the Switch, with events that are usually decent, if not exactly packed with mind-blowing reveals.

The dry 2020 schedule of the Nintendo Switch has been a point of contention among the fans, and even Nintendo’s shareholders have given the company grief over a lack of announcements. Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Ring-Fit Adventure have helped the Switch a great deal in 2020, but Nintendo cannot rest on its laurels forever, and some exciting indie titles will help alleviate fears that COVID-19 torpedoed the company’s upcoming schedule.
