Despite being nearly three years old, Splatoon 2 is about to receive a new update. More just a balance patch than anything, it’s still surprising to see Nintendo announce that players should keep an eye out for an incoming fix. You’d think the game would be as polished as possible ever since Nintendo stopped hosting Splatfests, but I suppose not.

While the official patch notes haven’t been released in English, a rough translation (courtesy of Twitter user Diam) notes a bunch of tweaking to different weapon parameters. Things like the splat roller have had their attack widened while the bubble blower lasts two seconds longer. It’s not the most thrilling of things to write about, but still of interest to hardcore players.

What’s more surprising than a new update for Splatoon 2 is Nintendo’s lack of information regarding any kind of sequel. The Octo Expansion was a nice bonus to the main game, but clearly people dig this series. With the sequel shipping nearly 10 million units, isn’t it about time we heard something in Splatoon 3?

It’s still early in the year and Nintendo is being particularly shy about Breath of the Wild 2, so there’s a chance that Nintendo’s not-E3 Direct may give us more answers with regards to this series. In the meantime, a balance update will suffice.
