Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will now have Warframe and Cuphead spirits as permanent additions to the game.
Way back in February, Nintendo honored two great games in Smash Bros. Ultimate. Warframe’s Space Mom herself, the Lotus, was added as an obtainable Spirit during the Spirits in Black event at the end of February. She then turns into Natah after reaching level 99, which is a bit of a spoiler for non-Warframe fans.
Cuphead and his brother Mugman were both added as part of the Ready? Wallop! event earlier in February. Cuphead also was added as a playable Mii Gunner costume, which makes sense since he’s technically from a shooter game. Nintendo even maintained the same inconsistency in coloration that Cuphead has in his own game, making his gloves and boots cycle between white, yellow, and brown depending on whether he’s a Spirit, in-game, or in the menu.
Both were only available as Spirits for a limited time until very recently when Nintendo decided to make them permanent fixtures of Smash Bros.
In a Tweet issued earlier this week, Nintendo confirmed that Lotus, Mugman, and Cuphead will be added to Smash Ultimate’s Spirit Board and stores permanently. Now, Warfarme fans looking to have their very own Space Mom hovering over them in Smash Bros, can get one even if they only recently acquired the game.
In other Smash Bros. news, Nintendo recently announced the next online tournament event is “Born in 200X.” As the name suggests, it will involve only video game characters that were born in the 2000s, such as Toon Link from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Lucas, Olimar, and Lucario. These were characters that were made famous when Nintendo was riding high on Nintendo Wii and DS sales, another era when Nintendo had conquered the handheld and home consoles markets. Although now they’ve done it in a single device and not two separate ones.
Anywhoodle, Born in 200X starts this weekend, so get ready for it.
