GungHo Entertainment’s Ninjala has surpassed yet another impressive milestone just days after celebrating a million downloads. On July 30th, the Ninjala Twitter account announced that “in celebration of 2 million downloads of #Ninjala, all players [would] receive a free gift of 100 Jala!”

An official Ninjala representative further confirmed that “all players who download Ninjala from now until August 26 will receive a free thank you gift of 300 Jala” as well. To be clear, Jala is Ninjala’s form of premium currency. Even considering the rewards offered by the paid Ninjala Pass, Jala is rather difficult to come by. What’s more, many of the highly sought-after avatar costumes will run a ninja upwards of 1,000 Jala, and some cosmetics are consumable.

So, if any players have been on the fence about this colorful new bubblegum ninja fighter, it may be the perfect time to download - especially now that the game is running smoothly and launch day server issues are mostly gone.

This announcement comes coupled with GungHo’s release of Developer Diary #6, which teases future DLC and gets into the nitty-gritty of the Ninjala ranked match system. Past dev diaries have detailed features like the game’s rock-paper-scissors parrying system, but players looking to better understand the game’s rankings should be sure to give this edition a watch.

After an initial delay, and a successful second beta, Ninjala has started to make its mark on Nintendo’s gaming community. The Splatoon-inspired fighter may face criticism for its bumpy launch and pricey weapon skins, but those complaints don’t seem large enough to outweigh the fun of wacky bubblegum ninja fights. And if the game seems a bit overwhelming at first, ninjas are always welcome to play Ninjala with a friend, but for a hands-on learning experience, perhaps watch a few dev diaries and dive right into the Ranked Match fires.

Ninjala is available now on Switch.
