Ninjala has had an incredibly successful launch on the Switch, reaching more than three million downloads across the world. However, despite its popularity, there’s one part of the game that players are not so fond of: the Ninjala Pass. In an attempt to rectify this, GungHo are introducing the Ninjala Pass Matsuri, an event that makes leveling up your pass noticeably faster.
Battle passes have become increasingly common in both free-to-play and paid titles, but Ninjala’s implementation of this system leaves a lot to be desired. Later tiers of the pass require many hours of grinding to get through, and the daily missions do not reward enough tier points proportional to the effort needed to complete them.
The first Ninjala Pass Matsuri (or festival in English) aims to help players by increasing the amount of pass points you can earn each day. There are two changes in effect for the duration of the event. Firstly, all daily missions will reward players with three times the amount of tier points. An obvious improvement that should speed things up no matter how far you are in the pass.
On top of this, daily missions can also be renewed for free as many times as you need. Renewing a mission will switch it for a new one with a different objective. Normally you would only get a few free renewals, so having no limit during the event is a welcome feature. By renewing missions, it’s possible to skip the more time consuming objectives, or ones that require particular weapons.
Completing the Ninjala pass requires a lot of tier points, so both of these changes are welcome. By making it through all 100 tiers, you’ll unlock a bunch of cosmetics, gold medals, and even 1550 Jala. Since the pass itself costs 950 Jala, it’s possible to earn enough for the next pass with some spare currency on top.
While the Ninjala Pass Matsuri may alleviate the grind a little, the question still remains as to how future Ninjala Passes will be handled. Having to spend many hours per day (or real world money) just to max out the pass is excessive, and strange choices like consumable weapon skins only serve to ruin what is normally an enjoyable game.
Ninjala players that want to get the most out of this event should hurry, as it ends on Aug 10th at 18:59 PDT.
