Volta-X, the newest game from developer GungHo was previously announced for the Nintendo Switch. The robot tactical strategy game was made playable on the PC as well as the handheld system, but now players can battle each other no matter what system they are on thanks to a new feature. The Ninjala creator announced that their newest game will actually support cross-play between the two platforms.
The real-time mech strategy title had a successful beta launch as the game is being prepped for release on PC and Switch. Volta-X lets players control giant mecha robots to fight against the Kaiju as well as competing against other robots. The game envisions the world of Volta-X as a sport where players can rise up in the ranks of the World Volta Association. Players can also customize their robots with different types of weapons to turn the tide in their battles.
With cross-play becoming a great way to bring gamers across different platforms together, it was only natural for Volta-X to have this feature as well. This big news will help extend the life of the game by bringing in more players into the game. The new feature would allow players to team up and form clans of their own. They can also battle each other online as they rise through the ranks in the World Volta Association.
GungHo will be holding a Limited Preview event on PC, allowing players to try out the game for free. This would give everyone a chance to practice the game’s mechanics, participate in PVP matches, learn the customizations, and tackle the single-player campaign. More details would be available soon, so interested parties can keep themselves updated on the game’s official Twitter page for all the latest news on the game and when it’ll be released.
To celebrate the huge announcement, GungHo is offering a free webtoon to provide more background on the game. The series would dig deep into the backstories of the main game’s characters Lan and Sheldon.
The game is currently being developed for both platforms as it will be made available later this summer.
