The wait is over for fans of Ninja, who have been patiently waiting to see where he ends up streaming after the announcement that Microsoft was shutting down Mixer. Ninja is only one of several streamers who were left up in the air as Mixer shifted over to Facebook Gaming, and his loyal viewers have been anxiously waiting to see where exactly the most popular video game streamer would end up. Today marks the first stream of Ninja’s from his new home: YouTube Gaming. His first stream is of course Fornite with over 100,000 people watching.
Even for those who don’t watch video game streamers, Ninja isn’t unknown. Tyler Blevins has dominated the video game streaming industry for several years, boasting incredible subscriber numbers across Twitch, Mixer, and now YouTube Gaming. He is most known for playing Fortnite, but also streamed quite a bit of PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds. Ninja was also the first video gamer to be featured on the cover of ESPN Magazine.
Ninja left his impressive 15 million Twitch subscribers when he transitioned to Mixer last year. Now that he is with YouTube Gaming, only time will tell if those numbers will grow back to their former glory. The streamer who at one point held the record for the most-followed active Twitch channel surely won’t have much issue regaining viewers on a different platform.
Ninja has been very active in shaping the Fortnite community. His popularity has fueled the game’s continued success, and he remains very vocal about the direction the game is going in. Ninja continues to be very dedicated to growing the community of video game streamers and working with platforms and charities, even helping to host tournaments with the game.
This bit of good news comes in midst of controversy surrounding Ninja and a few other streamers, which broke out on Twitter recently regarding charity streams. This is only one of several issues Ninja has faced in the last couple of years, but thankfully none of which have been on the same level as the reports of harassment and abuse that have been happening in the streaming industry lately. Despite his flaws, Ninja continues to be on of the good examples of what video game personalities can become.
