Nier Replicant - or, as Yoko Taro likes to style it, NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… - was recently rated for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in Taiwan. For what it’s worth, Tokyo Game Show kicks off in just over three weeks - Nier fans now have a reason to risk getting excited.

For those unacquainted with Nier Replicant, it’s an upcoming remaster of the original Nier game, which was a direct sequel to the fifth ending of Yoko Taro’s Drakengard and an indirect prequel to 2017’s critically-acclaimed Nier: Automata. Although Replicant and Automata have a lot in common in some ways - including some particularly popular characters that appear in both games - they tell drastically different tales to one another, and offer us totally different perspectives on this weird and wonderful world.

Nier Replicant doesn’t quite have a whopping 27 endings like Automata - one of which is obtained the first time you die, because that is technically a potential ending. However, it does include five unique conclusions, and the story that occurs prior to them is separated into two distinct parts.

Anyway, the news of Nier Replicant officially being rated in Taiwan comes from Gematsu, who recently posted details about the game on Twitter. You can check out the tweet below, which includes links to the official Taiwanese ratings for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

As noted in the tweet, the fact that Nier Replicant was recently rated hopefully implies that we’ll hear more details about the game soon. And, as mentioned at the beginning of this article, our current proximity to Tokyo Game Show makes this news a particularly welcome revelation.

There’s no release date for Nier Replicant yet, although we know it’s coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Hopefully a concrete launch date will be confirmed at Tokyo Game Show in three weeks.
