Grand Theft Auto V for PC may just be the worst kept secret in all of gaming, or perhaps, just perhaps - the smuggest, most inaccurate assumption in the entire industry. Either way, following the success of GTA 4, hopes are understandably high for a comparable GTA 5 experience on PC.

Of course, the PC isn’t the only medium currently lacking in GTA 5 goodness. Releasing just weeks after Rockstar’s latest triumph, both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles are equally eager to receive the title. While Rockstar ruled out the move as recently as September of last year, new information has now emerged to offer a tiny sliver of hope, where an 8th-gen outing is concerned.

Spotted by forum member ‘Metalmarc’ over on NeoGAF, a listing for the game — as taken from Czech retail website SuperGamer.cz reveals a GTA 5 title available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One formats. Also included in the product’s description is the tentative release date of June 13, 2014.

While the odds of a next-gen console release remain relatively slim it’s important to note that the move does make sense from a business perspective. Given the time taken to produce an expected PC port, Rockstar could certainly afford to put together a PS4/Xbox One upgrade at the same time. Indeed, the recent success of Crystal Dynamic’s Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition demonstrates the viability of such a move — a minimum of fuss for a maximum of profit.

While some forum users have objected to SuperGamer’s listing on the grounds that it displays the unofficially defunct ‘Games For Windows Live’ tag, it’s important to remember that many retailers employ mock-ups when advertising similar pre-orders.

Are these listings legit? Would retailers really risk notoriety over an unannounced title or is it a scheme to get some attention on their site? Is a next-gen GTA 5 necessary? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to check in with all of the latest GTA news, right here on Game Rant.
