At the moment, Dragon Ball fans seem to have their attention focused squarely on the upcoming action-RPG Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, which adapts and fleshes out the first few arcs of the DBZ anime. So much so that it feels like it’s easy to forget that there’s another popular DBZ title that is still being played and still has new content on the horizon - Dragon Ball FighterZ, last year’s smash-hit fighting game from Arc System Works. The game has a couple more DLC characters yet to be released and it looks like one of them has been leaked early.
Janemba, the main villain from the Fusion Reborn movie, was actually leaked earlier this year by Xbox, but very recently, Nintendo UK accidentally gave away a little bit more about the character on its official site. The info has since been taken down but many fans were able to find out the details and share them. Aside from the new playable character, Janemba will come with 5 alternate colors, a Lobby Avatar and a Z Stamp.
This makes Janemba the fourth character that’s part of Dragon Ball FighterZ second season pass, joining Jiren, Videl and Kid Goku from Dragon Ball GT. He won’t be the last either, as we have two more characters still to come - Gogeta and Broly; specifically, the versions of them that appeared in the most recent movie, Dragon Ball Super: Broly. As for when Janemba will be properly announced, it’s very possible that he’ll be revealed at this year’s EVO. While Dragon Ball FighterZ won’t be a headliner at the event, it will be making an appearance, and a lot of fighting game-related announcements have come from EVO.
Meanwhile, those disappointed that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot would only feature a playable Goku will be pleased to learn that that’s not the case. Earlier this month, it was officially confirmed that players can take control of some of Goku’s comrades. Only a few days ago, we got to see some gameplay footage of former villain Piccolo.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is available right now on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch.
