Since the DCEU failed to take off, the CW’s Arrowverse has scratched the itch of many comic book fans. Over the course of eight years and six shows, the TV network told the stories of several beloved DC superheroes. After the massive Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, the CW is revealing its next plans for the shared universe.
Recently, the CW announced the Arrowverse’s seventh show, Superman and Lois. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has halted production on all of the CW’s shows until 2021. But these long delays have not stopped the network from teasing fans with details from future seasons. In an interview with Deadline, for example, the CW’s CEO and chairman Mark Pedowitz promised that the Arrowverse’s next crossover would focus on Batwoman and Superman.
Pedowitz called the 2021 crossover a “smaller (two-hour) event.” Although the crossover will mainly focus on two superheroes, the CEO did not rule out appearances from other heroes like the Flash.
This move should come as no surprise to fans of DC’s television universe. The previous crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths, gave the Arrowverse a soft reset. It makes sense that the network would plan a simpler crossover that is more accessible to newcomers. The network might already be preparing for this clash of heroes. Batwoman’s latest episode mentioned Kryptonite as a plot point. Hopefully, fans will enjoy the network’s take on the World’s Finest duo.
