The new Wraith skin from The Lost Treasure Collection in Apex Legends could not be headshot for about 7 hours yesterday, but they patched that out right quick.

Welcome to The Lost Treasure Collection update for Season 5 of Apex Legends. This update brings with it a ton of changes to Apex Legends including mobile respawn beacons, changes to character abilities like Lifeline’s Combat Medic and Octane’s Launch Pad, as well as a whole bunch of new cosmetics in the Lost Treasure Collection.

These cosmetics are all basically along the same theme of valuable antiquities, with the bulk of them being either Indiana Jones-style explorer outfits or just covered in Aztec-style gold. Wraith’s new skin, Marble Goddess, makes her look like the marble statue of a Greek goddess, and can be obtained either through Lost Treasure Packs or via direct purchase with Apex Coins or Crafting Metals.

And for a time, you really wanted that skin. Why? It had no head hitbox.

That’s right. For about 7 hours yesterday, Wraith players that purchased the Marble Goddess skin could play Apex Legends without fear of ever getting headshot.

The news of Wraith’s new pay-to-win skin spread pretty quickly after the update went live, with posts to Reddit showcasing the obvious bug which then got picked up by various streamers. A glitch of this nature is one that’ll catch Respawn’s attention pretty quickly, and within an hour of its discovery, Apex Legends designer Daniel Z. Klein commented that the team was looking into a fix.

About seven hours after that, a hotfix was rolled out so that the Marble Goddess skin had a hitbox again. But players that were paying attention to social media had a brief window of opportunity to get a leg-up on the competition.

If you noticed everyone was playing Wraith yesterday, this would be the reason. Now that things have gotten back to normal, you should see the Wraith player count start to dip back down.
