British tabletop games studio TT Combat has dropped some new vessels for their popular space combat game Dropfleet Commander.
Dropfleet commander was originally created by Hawk Wargames who were acquired by TT Combat in October 2017. It is a sister game to Dropzone Commander a 10mm scale sci-fi inspired war game published by the same company. Dropfleet Commander focuses on combat between armadas of space ships, whereas Dropzone Commander concentrates on ground-based assaults. While the game is set in 2600 the story begins in 2342 and the events surrounding humanity’s first efforts into Interstellar flight. Over the years humanities foray into space have not gone well with war and alien invasion wiping out most of the human race. There are currently 5 factions in the game: United Colonies of Mankin (UCM), Scourge (S), Post Human Republic (PHR), Shaltari Tribes (ST), and The Resistance (TR).
All factions are receiving ship updates this week. First off we have the UCM Lysander Stealth Lighter, a smaller ship for sure but it certainly packs a punch in close combat. It’s expertise, however, is its stealth capability, providing transport for covert operations.
The deadly Scourge brings the Hiruko Boarding Cutter to the fight. Created for boarding enemy ships it is able to ram and attach itself using its tentacles. Scourge fighters then storm crippled ship leaving no survivors behind.
The Harpocrate Guerrilla Lighter belongs to the Post Human Republic and is a testament to their technical prowess. The fighter lacks weapons but makes up for it through its use of an advanced EM Warfare Suite.
The Shaltari Helium Voidflyer uses the latest Shaltari innovations. Able to travel great distances in the blink of an eye, this fighter uses Voidgate chain technology to transport the vessel from point to point, easily evading attack and gaining the upper hand against inferior foes.
The Resistance Seneca Detonator is a converted freighter whose myriad of smaller container compartments have been converted to carry explosive charges. These containers are remote-controlled by the pilot and are capable of docking with enemy ships to ensure effective delivery. If all else fails then there is the good ole’ fashioned ‘crashing into things maneuver’. regardless these guys are not to be messed with.
All 5 Dropfleet ships should be available to buy by the time you read this from the TT Combat web store.
