Epic Games has officially announced that Black Manta has surfaced in Fortnite. Leaks and speculation have long pointed to Black Manta eventually arriving with the appearance of the Aquaman skin during the water-themed Season 3, Chapter 2. With Black Manta out now, you can have a long-awaited duel between the two characters.
To unlock the Aquaman skin, you’ll have to complete all five of the weekly challenges. Upon the completion of the fifth challenge, you should get a notification that confirms you have received the skin. You can also unlock the Arthur Curry-style for the skin by wearing the Aquaman skin and diving over a waterfall at the in-game location, “Gorgeous Gorge.” Once you do this, the skin should automatically unlock.
Unlike the challenges for unlocking the Aquaman skin, the tweet that showcases the Black Manta skin states that it is available for purchase in the in-game item shop. There isn’t some sort of challenge or special event that you can complete. You must purchase it with V-bucks, Fortnite’s premium currency. The skin costs 1,500 V-bucks, which roughly equates to around $14-$15 dollars.
When you purchase the Black Manta set from the shop, it actually comes with a couple of other items too. It comes with the “Manta Pack,” which looks similar to the back armor in the most recent Aquaman style. In addition, the skin also comes with the “Manta Blades” which serve as the harvesting tool for the Black Manta skin.
It should be noted that the availability window of the skin in the item store isn’t determined and it most likely won’t return as a purchasable item. If you want the Black Manta skin, it’s best for you to get it soon before it eventually disappears.
The developers of Fortnite have been on a roll with the high quality of cosmetic items that they churn out. It would have been nice if the skin and some sort of feature where you get some sort of bonus or complete a challenge if you kill the Black Manta skin as Aquaman or vise versa. Even though it’s a little bit disappointing that the skin doesn’t have some sort of challenge or special event, the skin still upholds the high quality that the designers of Fortnite are known for.
