There’s a new video out showing off some gameplay for the upcoming Fairy Tail game, and it gives fans a taste of what it’ll look like to explore the capital city of Crocus.
The 24-minute video has Natsu and fellow members of the Fairy Tail guild going sightseeing through the massive city, checking out the plaza, palace, clock tower and market as they prepare to take part in the Grand Magic Games.
The city seems faithful to the look and story of the anime, and the exploration gives viewers a chance to witness the game’s grid-based combat system.
The video also shows the qualifying round of the games, along with the lead-up to the tournament proper.
However, many fans will likely be disappointed in how the game portrays the preliminary round: a twisting, flying labyrinth shaped out of the very buildings of the city itself.
In the game, the labyrinth isn’t even shown. Players instead just take part in a few battles before the game simply skips over the entire section, with a blank screen directly telling players that they managed to get through the labyrinth and qualify.
The new gameplay video comes shortly after publisher Koei Tecmo announced that the RPG would be delayed until the end of July. This comes after a previous delay earlier this year, when the publisher saying they needed to improve the game’s quality and adjust some features before its release.
Hopefully, despite Koei Tecmo’s earlier concerns about the game, it’ll still end up providing a fun experience to fans of the show. Though if the choice to skip the Sky Labyrinth is any indication, there may still be some things lacking when the game finally hits store shelves.
