This is probably the best trailer that Bleeding Edge has ever released. Also, you can actually buy the game now.

It’s been about a month since Bleeding Edge came out, and the reviews have been… well, let’s just say they’ve been mediocre. It’s sitting at 67 on Metacritic with a user score of 6.2. While the concept of a third-person hero shooter that focuses on melee combat is generally well-received, the execution has left something to be desired.

First, there’s the overall cyberpunk aesthetic, which is quickly getting tired even though Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t coming out for several months. Second, there’s the “totally tubular attitude” (as our reviewer Jamie Latour put it) that will definitely turn off some folks.

Third, there’s just a general lack of content. If you’re not digging the combat and gameplay loop, then you’re not likely to get grabbed by Bleeding Edge.

That said, some players have found a home in Bleeding Edge. Not anyone you’d know or anything–they’re just random names on Twitter. That was sort of the best Microsoft could do to insert some peer pressure into the latest Bleeding Edge trailer.

But hey, before we go dunking on Bleeding Edge this is exactly the same way that Sea of Thieves arrived, and look at that game now. Give it a year and we’ll see how far Bleeding Edge can go.
