Netflix’s Geeked Week didn’t bring the announcement we’ve all been waiting for, which is a release date for Witcher Season 2. Instead, we got a strange 12-second teaser video that seemed to center around Ciri, although the images came so fast and furious that it was hard to make any conclusions on much of anything.
Today, Netflix released another 12-second teaser, but this time it seems to center on Geralt. It starts with Geralt stalking around a castle (which is probably Kaer Morhen), and then we’re bombarded with images of mostly knives, swords, and blades. There’s a person in chains, a dagger being stabbed into someone or something, Geralt drawing his sword for an obvious threat, and a coin is tossed.
The words “are you ready,” “salvation, and “run,” were spoken, along with several more examples of Elder Speech Runes. We still don’t have a satisfactory translation on what those runes actually say, but hopefully the latest words will let internet sleuths crack the code.
Oh, and there was definitely a skeleton, which is pretty much a Witcher’s bread and butter when it comes to monster slaying.
Again, there’s still no word on when Witcher Season 2 will drop, but we do know that Netflix is partnering with CD Projekt Red, the developers of The Witcher video games, to bring Witchercon on July 9. Netflix promises it’ll be an “epic online celebration of the franchise,” which seems like it’d also be the perfect time to surprise drop a new season of the Witcher. Or at the very least provide a release window other than “soon.”
