There’s still a lot we don’t know about Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, but here’s what we’ve got for sure. It’ll be official Resident Evil canon as confirmed by both Netflix and Capcom, with Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi serving as both producer and supervisor to ensure Infinite Darkness doesn’t take too many creative liberties with the franchise.
We know that Resident Evil 2 Remake voice actors Nick Apostolides and Stephanie Panisello will reprise their roles as Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, and we know from a trailer shown at the Resident Evil Showcase that Leon will somehow get invited to the White House to speak to the president along with Clare.
Oh, and we know it’ll be a CG series that’ll debut sometime in July. And now thanks to Geeked Week, we know how the first two minutes of the show will shake out.
Geeked Week’s teaser shows us a flight of US military choppers laden with soldiers flying over the fictional Republic of Penamstan. One of those choppers get shot down while another goes in to rescue any survivors. For some reason, the grey-haired and sunglasses-wearing general orders the rescuing chopper to abandon their buddies, but doesn’t give any explanation why.
The whole thing looks like a scene straight out of Black Hawk Down, which leads one to wonder where exactly the zombies come into it. The earlier teaser from April showed some zombies attacking the White House, so maybe in the following minutes we’ll see a zombie horde come for those poor soldiers.
We’ll find out for sure on July 8 when Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness starts airing on Netflix.
Geeked Week finishes up today after already bringing us announcements and trailers for Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the Cowboy Bebop live-action remake, and Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway. We’re still waiting on the big news of Witcher Season 2, but surely that’ll be what Netflix debuts next, right?
