After weeks of speculation, fans of the popular Netflix original crime drama, Ozark, can rest at ease knowing that the show has been officially renewed. Netflix took to social media earlier today and confirmed that the Byrdes would be going “out with a bang” when they come back “with an expanded 14-episode final season.”

The fourth and final season of Ozark will be split into two 7-episode “parts,” in a move similar to popular predecessors like Power and Breaking Bad. Fans of the award-winning series can look forward to Jason Bateman reprising his role as Marty Byrde, alongside favorites including Lisa Emery, Skylar Gaertner, Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Laura Linney, and Charlie Tahan. Other castmates are expected to return as well, so stay tuned for further details.

After rumors that the show was approaching its end following Season 3, it’s a delight to know that Netflix is giving this crime-riddled story the closure it deserves. This entire month of gradual announcements and releases from Netflix has also been a lovely reminder that, despite the coronavirus pandemic, the streaming giant has no intentions of slowing down. While the crisis has many scrambling to reassess their workplace situations, moviegoers and TV fans alike can rejoice that Netflix has made an effort to maintain at least a semblance of stability.

Known for its thrilling twists and moments of intense family drama, Ozark has garnered 14 Primetime Emmy Award, and 2 Golden Globe Award, nominations to date. Fans of broody, family-driven, crime dramas, may want to check out Ozark now if they haven’t - with proper pacing, it would be an excellent time to catch up for the eventual Season 4 Premier.

Ozark is available to watch on Netflix.
