Many fans of Luigi’s Mansion want Netflix to stop messing around and finally make a series based on the games.

Luigi’s Mansion History

Luigi’s Mansion has had a long history with long gaps between each game. The original Luigi’s Mansion game was released in 2001 and didn’t get a sequel for 12 years, after which Nintendo released Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon in 2013. Then, there was another five-year gap until a remaster of the original Luigi’s Mansion, this time for 3DS, was released. Now, only a year after the remaster, we are getting another Luigi’s Mansion sequel.

Luigi’s Mansion has remained relevant due to its original style and gameplay, and the fact that it gave Luigi a distinct personality outside of being Mario’s brother and sidekick. Luigi is cowardly in the series but overcomes his fear in order to save the day when his more-famous brother goes missing. In the Luigi’s Mansion games, Luigi has to gather his courage and hunt Boos and other creepy baddies.

Why A Netflix Series?

The goofy and spooky Luigi’s Mansion series would be an amazing Netflix series. Whether it is animated in the style of the original games or adapted into a campy live-action, Luigi’s Mansion would be a fun, lighthearted show for the small screen.

Luigi’s Mansion even has a rogues’ gallery that would be perfect for an episodic format. The game’s Portrait Ghosts differ from the normal Boos in the game. For example, they have their own backstories and unique designs, which are based on who they were in life. Each episode could be about a different ghost; in one episode, Luigi could hunt Shivers the wandering butler, and in the next, he could vacuum up Biff Atlas the bodybuilder. The different ghosts could have different backstories, ranging from serious to silly, which would create a lot of variety in the show.

A Luigi’s Mansion Netflix show wouldn’t be a stretch. Luigi is arguably a more iconic character than anyone from Castlevania, which has not one but two seasons on Netflix already. In addition, the Witcher series is coming out this fall, so it’s clear that Netflix has no problem banking off of the popularity of video games.

Other Netflix Video Game Shows

Luigi’s Mansion would also fill a different role than Netflix’s other video game series. Unlike Castlevania or Witcher, a show based on Luigi’s Mansion would make a great kids’ series. It could have a similar tone to classic Scooby Doo, complete with a fun spooky aesthetic. It could even combine elements from the heavily-memed Super Mario Bros. Super Show from the ‘80s. With goofy ghosts, wacky hijinks, and the cowardly Luigi the show would be fun for the whole family.

The Luigi’s Mansion games have remained popular even during the long gaps between each game. The protagonist is also a lovable and memorable character and the show would be a great kids’ series with unique villains. Perhaps most importantly, everyone wants good things for Luigi, and a Netflix show would be a great opportunity for him to step away from his brother’s shadow.
