Cursed is the live-action television adaptation of an illustrated novel series by the same name. Both the novels and the show are handled by Frank Miller, a famous comic book writer known for his work on properties like Batman and Daredevil.

Netflix announced Cursed’s development over a year ago, and the show hasn’t received much promotion since. But as of today, the Netflix series has a brand new trailer that reveals it’s coming out late next month.

The trailer gives some idea as to what fans can expect from the series, whose high-fantasy elements liken it to that of The Witcher. The premise of the show puts a twist on the King Arthur mythos. Instead of centering it on Arthur as the protagonist, it focuses on a younger version of Nimue, the girl destined to become the Lady of The Lake.

Essentially, when Nimue’s people come under attack, she finds herself teaming up with Arthur to save them, holding her own in battle through with innate magical powers and a legendary sword. Cursed will premiere on July 17, 2020, and its first season will have ten episodes that each run at an hour in length.

Cursed will premiere exclusively on Netflix starting July 17, 2020.
