Nerd Street Gamers has partnered with Comcast Business to bring high-speed internet to the company’s Localhost facilities, Nerd Street announced last week. The partnership will bring Comcast Business Ethernet Dedicated Internet and software-defined wide area networking to NSG’s growing number of competitive gaming locations.

Nerd Street Gamers boasts a nationwide network of esports-focused Localhost facilities, where casual or inexperienced gamers can practice their competitive skills. The company also hosts many gaming events both online and on LAN, with players competing in a number of titles such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Fortnite, and Overwatch.

Nerd Street Gamers currently has multiple locations across the United States, with plans to quickly expand to over 100 facilities in the next five years. The Localhost facilities, each outfitted with the high-performance gaming hardware used by esports pros, aim to build up amateur competitive gaming scenes.

Now in partnership with Comcast Business, each location will be provided with the high-speed internet necessary to build a professional gaming career. While Nerd Street’s events have been moved online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the connectivity provided by Comcast Business will aid in smooth broadcasts and gameplay.

“We’ve seen esports develop into one of the world’s most popular forms of connection and entertainment, which really puts into perspective the need for a well-supported backend,” says Jody Hagemann, Senior Director of Product Management at Comcast Business. “Our goal in partnering with Nerd Street Gamers was to immediately build out a system capable of handling real-time gaming and large audiences, but also to explore game-changing ways that we can support this booming industry in the future.”

Rob Johnson, Chief Operating Officer at Nerd Street Gamers, shared a similar sentiment, “Implementing trusted solutions that support the competitive gaming infrastructure is a critical step to meeting the esports industry’s rising technology needs. In esports, every frame counts and lag can be the difference between victory and defeat. We believe that the best competitor should always win and providing a reliable connection ensures the integrity of play.”

Nerd Street Gamers is hosting multiple events throughout June, including online Fortnite, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and VALORANT tournaments.
