Most recently, in 2018, Criterion Software released Burnout Paradise Remastered. This was, again, the 10th anniversary of one of its most positively-received titles, so to see the developers proving the same treatment for Need for Speed should come as no surprise. With the series’ last two titles failing to live up to the older ones, now is the perfect time to provide a remaster to get disappointed players back on the bandwagon. Remasters are certainly a safe way of recovering from weaker releases, as it’s known preemptively that the game will be liked by those who buy it, namely people who loved the original. A franchise’s focal point rests on its most recent release, so to reallocate that focus to a title that was well received by remastering it is certainly a smart move.
