Naughty Dog will debut a new trailer for The Last of Us Part II on Wednesday, following the announcement that the sequel to the hit Sony exclusive has gone gold.
The developers posted a short teaser video to Twitter on Tuesday featuring voice-overs from main character Joel and Ellie, with the much younger Ellie insisting she must finish some fight before her guardian warns there will be a cost. Following in the vein of previous trailers, the clip comes off as pretty cryptic - well, cryptic if you’ve managed to avoid all of the spoilers which have been circulating online following a recent massive leak.
Sony and Naughty Dog have both confirmed that the leak wasn’t the work of anyone affiliated with either company, while previous reports point to a hack facilitated by a server vulnerability.
The Last of Us 2 was originally down for a May 29 launch but was delayed indefinitely following the outbreak of COVID-19. It was recently announced that the title will release on June 19, with Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima pushed back to July 17 to accommodate it.
It would probably take a concerted effort to avoid spoilers between now and June 19, no thanks to whoever’s guilty of the leak. As for the new trailer, it should go live at 7:00 PT on Wednesday morning.
