NASCAR driver Kyle Larson has been suspended indefinitely after using the N-word during a livestreamed iRacing event.

With the coronavirus shutting down most professional sports leagues around the world, NASCAR has adapted by going online. Drivers stay sharp by competing in virtual competitions that are designed to simulate the real thing, with many taking to Twitch.tv to make up for lost revenue.

Unfortunately, Kyle Larson forgot that being live on Twitch meant that everyone is listening.

During Sunday night’s iRacing event, Larson believed that his microphone had failed and decided to use some colorful language to see if anyone was listening. Unfortunately for Larson, the word he used is most certainly against Twitch’s terms of service.

Worse, it’s also against NASCAR’s policies. After hearing about the N-bomb dropped live on stream, NASCAR suspended Larson and his racing team indefinitely.

“We are extremely disappointed by what Kyle said last night during an iRacing Event. The words that he chose to use are offensive and unacceptable," wrote Chip Ganassi Racing in a statement on Monday. “As of this moment we are suspending Kyle without pay while we work through this situation with all appropriate parties.”

Larson also took to social media on Monday to issue a video apology. Let this be a lesson to all you new NASCAR streamers: there’s no video delay to keep you safe, so watch what you say.
