Get ready to kick the door, fight monsters, and grab the loot in the new Munchkin Dungeon game from CMON and Steve Jackson Games

Munchkin is a competitive tabletop card game from Steve Jackson games for 3-6 players. It is a humorous take on the fantasy RPG genre where munchkins aim to level up and grab the loot as soon as possible, something we will all have experienced with newbie players. Munchkin was adopted by the community and became a regular feature around tabletops, often played during a break or before a session would start. It has gone on to spawn lots of expansions and franchised editions, including a recent Disney adaptation.

Munchkin Dungeon brings the mischievous lovable fun from the Munchkin series to the tabletop. Recommended for 2-5 players aged 14 and up, the game sees our team of adventurers enter the dungeon and make their way to the final boss fight, kicking doors down, killing monsters, and grabbing the loot on their way. Players collect fame for their endeavors and the winner with the most fame wins. They take turns to move around the dungeon with a typical go comprising of four phases.

  • Kick open the door, sees our hero move between rooms by connecting stairs collecting the loot as they move. They continue to move until they enter a room with another hero or monster. Get in Trouble, gives the rival heroes play threat cards to hurt or stop you in your tracks. Resolve Room, Now you must fight and kill all the monsters in the room. Combat here is quick and lean. Loot & rest, if the room is clear you take the loot and rest until you are next called upon.

You can level up by spending coins you have acquired and if you die you receive shame points; too many of these and you’ll die of embarrassment. A typical game is estimated to last about 80 minutes.

Munchkin Dungeon and the expansion Munchkin Dungeon: Side Quest should be available from July 17 at your local independent games store or online.
