Mortal Shell is a souls-like game that is headed to PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Many fans of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and titles of its ilk have been closely watching the game developed by Cold Symmetry. And with the release of the game just around the corner, more exciting info about Mortal Shell has been revealed.
Mortal Shell will be receiving a physical release in October. The game has the potential to be a cult-hit, as many fans enjoyed the Mortal Shell beta. With the fun that has been had leading up to the release date, fans have requested a physical version of the game, and that ask is being granted.
A tweet has been published from the official @MortalShellGame Twitter page. The tweet indicates that the team has been stunned by how many fans want to enjoy the game beyond a simple digital copy, and because of that the team will be releasing the game both digitally and physically. One thing to note, the digital version of Mortal Shell will be dropping on August 18, 2020, but the newly revealed physical copy will be available a month and a half later on October 2, 2020.
For collection purposes, having a physical copy of a game is something many fans prefer. Additionally, there is a certain comfort in a physical copy that gives peace of mind, along with being able to share the game with friends. Traditionally, for an indie title, a physical copy usually comes after the success of the initial release. Stardew Valley recently received a Switch physical addition, for example, after the game managed a remarkable 10 million sales. When it comes to Mortal Shell, the developer is already hoping the game catches on with fans, and releasing a physical version is an excellent way to create goodwill among the player base.
Mortal Shell releases digitally on August 18 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A physical copy will release on October 2, 2020.
