Mortal Kombat 11 will be adding Friendships on May 26, with every character on the roster getting their own Friendship that they can use instead of the excessively violent Fatalities. This includes DLC characters like Spawn, whose Friendship was recently revealed in a new video.
The Spawn Friendship in Mortal Kombat 11 is one of the most amusing Friendships that have been revealed for the game so far. In it, Spawn is relaxing in a hammock, reading a romance novel that bears his likeness. This is a far cry from Spawn’s Fatalities, which generally see him brutally mutilate his opponents. Like all Mortal Kombat 11 Friendships, the Spawn Friendship is accompanied by confetti and big, colorful balloon letters that spell “FRIENDSHIP” at the top of the screen.
Once MK11 players download the new update on May 26, they will be able to utilize Friendships for all characters on the roster. This includes Spawn’s fellow DLC character RoboCop, with the 80s action icon performing the “Robot” dance when players activate his Friendship.
While Friendships will be free to all Mortal Kombat 11 players, RoboCop will only be available to those that either purchase him individually, or buy the Aftermath expansion. The Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath expansion is releasing alongside the big May 26 update, and it will grant players access to RoboCop, Fujin, and Sheeva, along with brand new story content that picks up right where the base game left off. It’s easily the biggest post-release content for Mortal Kombat 11 to date, and so it has a premium price to match at $39.99.
Those that have never purchased the Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack can get a pretty good deal if they decide to purchase the Aftermath expansion and Kombat Pack bundle. Priced just $10 more at $49.99, the bundle gets players all of the new MK11: Aftermath content, plus all of the previously released DLC characters. This includes the likes of Shang Tsung, The Terminator, The Joker, and more.
Mortal Kombat 11 players that aren’t interested in spending more money on the game have plenty to look forward to on May 26 as well. Besides Friendships, players will also be getting some classic stages on May 26, along with Stage Fatalities. Needless to say, it’s going to be a big week for Mortal Kombat 11 fans whether they purchase the Aftermath expansion or not.
Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
