On Sunday, Mortal Kombat 11 director, and series co-creator, Ed Boon announced that Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters will be revealed “next week,” assuming that everything goes according to plan. While fans are now certain to be excitedly looking ahead to this MK11 DLC character announcement, Boon is spending his time adding fuel to the fire with an apparent hint at who one of the DLC characters for Mortal Kombat 11 will be.

Specifically, Boon has tweeted an image of a container of green Axe deodorant, on his official Twitter account, with the following caption: “No sweat #RedSpoons.” While fans remain confused about the exact meaning of the included hashtag, some believe that the green Axe deodorant means that Nightwolf is as good as confirmed to be a Mortal Kombat 11 DLC fighter.

For the uninitiated, Nightwolf is a Mortal Kombat character that was introduced in Mortal Kombat 3. Included in Nightwolf’s offensive arsenal is the ability to summon a green tomahawk, and indeed the green Axe deodorant posted by Boon appears to point directly to this viridescent weapon.

Notably, Nightwolf appeared in a Mortal Kombat 11 DLC leak, which looked to confirm nine MK11 DLC fighters before the game was even officially released. This leak was spawned by players looking through the game files of the Switch version of NetherRealm Studios’ new fighting game, and there is quite a bit of evidence to suggest that this MK11 DLC leak is accurate.

For example, intro dialogue for the leaked Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters was discovered by fans that continued to dig through the game files. Indeed, dialogue was found for a great number of the characters included in the Mortal Kombat 11 DLC character leak, and dialogue for Nightwolf was part of what was located through this datamining.

Certainly, Boon’s tweet cannot be considered definitive confirmation that Nightwolf is one of the DLC characters for Mortal Kombat 11, but it does seem to suggest it. Moreover, if Nightwolf is indeed set as an MK11 DLC character, it stands to reason that some of the other characters from the aforementioned leak, such as Spawn and Fujin, may be coming as well.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
