Mortal Kombat 11, while receiving mostly positive reviews since launch, has also been criticized for a number of reasons. Chief among these is the difficulty of its Towers of Time mode, as well as the game being stingy with its in-game currency, requiring a ridiculous amount of grinding for players to get Koins, Hearts, Soul Fragments, and Time Krystals. NetherRealm Studios has responded to these complaints with a hot-fix to better balance the Towers of Time, but a more substantial update is coming this week that will also gift Mortal Kombat 11 players with free in-game currency.
In this week’s Mortal Kombat 11 update, players will receive 500,000 Koins, 500 Hearts, 1,000 Soul Fragments, and 1,000 Time Krystals. This should help players better explore the Krypt and open a lot more Krypt chests than they would be able to otherwise, and the Time Krystals will make sure players are able to purchase more skins without having to break out their wallet to buy microtransactions.
This sizable gift of in-game currency should go a long way in appeasing any disgruntled fans who are frustrated with the Mortal Kombat 11 progression system. This combined with the Towers of Time fix should go a long way in alleviating the substantial grind in Mortal Kombat 11.
Moving forward, Mortal Kombat 11 owners can expect NetherRealm Studios to continue tweaking the game’s balance and addressing fan concerns. The studio has been quick to fix the Towers of Time difficulty issues and gift early adopters with a huge chunk of in-game currency, and more balance changes, like character nerfs and buffs, are likely in the pipeline as well.
It will be interesting to see how future Mortal Kombat 11 updates impact the game’s meta. Right now, the Mortal Kombat 11 tier list features characters like Raiden and Scorpion at the top of the list, with Cassie Cage and Kitana at the bottom, but that could change drastically with future updates.
Future updates will also add some new content to Mortal Kombat 11. Perhaps the most exciting will be the paid DLC characters, especially if leaked Mortal Kombat 11 DLC fighters like Spawn, The Joker, and The Terminator are really coming to the game.
Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
