Earlier this week, the Mortal Kombat 11 Kommunity Reveal event gave fans a closer look at NetherRealm Studios’ upcoming fighting game, showing off a custom gear system and confirming a number of new and returning characters. While some individuals may still be churning through this officially disclosed information, reports suggest that yet another detail may have accidentally been revealed at the event.

Specifically, in a conversation with DualShockers, NetherRealm Studios Art Director Steve Beran made a statement that points to Reptile’s inclusion in Mortal Kombat 11. If true, Reptile would be yet another returning character featured in the new fighting game, joining other series veterans like Baraka, Sonya Blade, Raiden, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero.

The reference to Reptile’s presence in Mortal Kombat 11 came during a discussion about the game’s new Towers of Time mode. In this mode, players will have access to a tag team feature, which will allow them to temporarily bring a secondary fighter into battle. This assistant combatant will be able to use some of their special abilities in service of the primary fighter, and Beran made direct reference to one such ability: Reptile’s Acid Ball.

Indeed this a somewhat subtle suggestion on Beran’s part, but being able to utilize one of Reptile’s moves in Towers of Time does, of course, indicate that players will have access to the Saurian in Mortal Kombat 11. While this may not be particularly surprising news to many players, as Reptile has been featured in a majority of the previous Mortal Kombat titles, some fans will certainly be excited to have him confirmed as returning for the new entry.

However, returning characters are not the only thing for players to be excited about, as a number of newcomers have been confirmed for Mortal Kombat 11 as well. Among these rookies is Geras, a fighter that can make use of sand traps, teleportation, and the ability to manipulate time.

Of course, the inclusion of Reptile has not been confirmed through official channels, but perhaps it will be, along with more of the roster, in the upcoming weeks. At the very least, players will have the final word on this matter when Mortal Kombat 11’s beta goes live on March 28.

Mortal Kombat 11 releases April 23, 2019 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
