Earlier today, NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive announced Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, which is an upcoming story expansion that will introduce new storylines and three new playable characters in the form of Fujin, Sheeva, and RoboCop. Moreover, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is set to launch on May 26th, but it is important to know that the DLC expansion won’t be free.
Players who are interested in getting the additional story and playable characters in Mortal Kombat 11’s upcoming DLC will have to make a separate purchase that will cost them $39.99 just for the expansion alone. Moreover, NetherRealms Studios is also offering a sweet deal for players who already own the base game with a bundle called Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath + Kombat Pack, which, as the name suggests, combines Aftermath with the previously released Kombat Pack DLC for $49.99.
However, new players who do not own Mortal Kombat 11 can purchase the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection, which includes Aftermath, and immediate access to Mortal Kombat 11 and the Kombat Pack DLC for $59.99. Given that the Kombat Pack DLC is usually priced at $39.99 by itself, players who want the full Mortal Kombat 11 experience are better off purchasing either of these new bundles. To the uninitiated, the Kombat Pack DLC includes six playable characters such as Shang Tsung, Terminator T-800, Sindel, Joker, and Spawn together with numerous premium skin packs.
Apart from the paid content that Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath will offer players, NetherRealm Studios will also include the return of some popular features to Mortal Kombat 11 to all players with or without Aftermath. These features include the return of the Klassic Dead Pool and Soul Chamber arena accompanied by Stage Fatalities, which are fan-favorite finishing moves that allow players to use the environment to brutally end the lives of their opponents.
Moreover, the release of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath will also see the return of the popular Friendship Fatality feature. This specific fatality move will allow players to end a battle by doing something nice for their opponent before killing them. At the moment, it is unclear just how many Friendship moves NetherRealm Studios will introduce in Mortal Kombat 11, but it wouldn’t be unlikely for all current fighters to have their own unique Friendship maneuver.
Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath will launch on May 26, for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
