Whether you love him for his outspokenness or hate him for his stubbornness, there’s no denying that there are few professionals in esports with as much industry experience as MonteCristo. He began his career casting competitive Warcraft 3 and has worked in just about as many different positions in the industry as there are different kinds of positions in the industry in the ensuing years. The latest chapter for MonteCristo has just been announced by B Site, an esports media company run by representatives from team-owning organizations: Monte is now a Vice President with B Site and League Commissioner for Flashpoint, a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament produced by the company.

In his new role as Vice President, Monte will be in charge of B-Site’s brand. In practice that means that he’ll have creative control over the direction of events, including Flashpoint, as well as the company’s digital content.

Following Monte’s departure from the Overwatch League, he explained that the league no longer felt like a fit for him in part due to a disagreement over its direction with commissioner Pete Vlastelica. Monte had a vision for a cooler, more successful Overwatch League, and whether or not it would have worked, Vlastelica wasn’t willing to allow Monte that level of input. In his now role with B Site, Monte will have exactly that degree of control over the company’s direction, allowing a chance for him to prove himself in a position of authority.

Furthermore, as the League Commissioner for Flashpoint tournaments, Monte is slated to be a link between its staff and its fans, as well as an enforcer of the tournament’s rules and regulations. Like any other sports commissioner, the position will also involves appearances as the face of the league during announcements and events.

B Site has also announced that, as part of this same move, it has acquired Insight on Esports, which produces content about a variety of esports games across multiple social channels. Following the new acquisition, Insight on Esports will now host a new slate of series, in addition to Monte’s League of Legends-focused podcast Summoning Insight.
