The Final Fantasy XIV x Monster Hunter World crossover is right around the corner, and Capcom recently shared a lengthy preview of the event, starting with gameplay of Behemoth.

For those not hip to Final Fantasy fauna, the Behemoth is featured regularly throughout the series, and is always a force to be reckoned with. Its appearance in Monster Hunter: World will be no different, and will provide a significant challenge to hunters with the courage to face it.

To hunt the Behemoth, players will need to be Hunter Rank 16 or higher. No need to rush through to fight it before a certain date, however, as once the monster is added through the upcoming update, it will be a permanent part of the Monster Hunter menagerie. For a good look at the beast in action, scroll to the 30:30 mark in the video, where the hunt begins.

The Behemoth is a highly aggressive monster, and a red line shows which player is currently the focus of its attacks. He has a variety of physical attacks, as well as the ability to summon meteors and lightning bolts, both of which can really wreck hunters. However, it is the Behemoth’s Ecliptic Meteor that players really need to watch out for. This is the ultimate move in its repertoire, and will one-shot players who don’t seek shelter behind one of the smaller, fallen meteors.

In addition to adding Behemoth, the crossover event will also include other Final Fantasy staples, such as Cactuars that can be used as traps, and a set of Moogle armor for Palicoes. The event will also include a Dragoon-themed armor set for hunters. The Final Fantasy XIV x Monster Hunter: World update will release Wednesday, August 1 at 5:00pm PT.

While players wait for the crossover to launch, they can participate in the Summer Twilight Festival that is currently underway in the game. This event brings lots of new content, including a collection of quests and bounties, but also more challenging, Arch-Tempered versions of Kirin and Vaal Hazak for those hardcore hunters out there. As always, there are also fresh sets of armor to collect.

Monster Hunter World is currently available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game launches for PC on August 9.
