The COVID-19 pandemic has caused Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s roadmap to be considerably rearranged by Capcom, to the point that its next big title update has been delayed indefinitely.
Capcom released an updated roadmap for the game alongside an apology for the increased waiting time. The delayed update will be Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s fourth free addition, though it has now been placed in the “Schedule TBD” section of the roadmap; in the meantime, Capcom does still have a few other things in store for the next couple of months.
The highly anticipated Title Update 4 is set to bring back fan-favorite monster Alatreon; in its announcement and apology statement, Capcom wrote that coronavirus had impacted production on the game and “made it necessary to postpone the release” of the update. Promising more news on the update as soon there’s information to share, Capcom also gave fans a look at what they will be seeing throughout the rest of April and May. That includes a new limited-time event quest starting on May 1, new layered armors, and a series of high-tier decorations and high-grade armor spheres to prepare for Alatreon’s arrival.
While the delay is unfortunate, coronavirus has understandably been taking a toll on most industries these days. Capcom went on to promise fans that in the meantime, there will be an extension of Iceborne event quests for the foreseeable future; at the very least, players will be able to keep busy.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
