As anyone that has played the game can attest, killing any monster in Monster Hunter World can be a challenge. Many of the monsters in the game take a lot of damage to bring down, and most of them have a variety of deadly attacks at their disposal that can take out unprepared hunters in one fell swoop. Killing a monster in Monster Hunter World is sometimes a feat in and of itself, so it’s even mores impressive when someone manages to kill two monsters at once.
That’s just what Monster Hunter World player Ben Cogger did, and he did it in epic fashion. Cogger took on both a Kulu-Ya-Ku and Tzitzi-Ya-Ku in the arena, weakening both monsters with hits from his longsword. He then hit them with a charging stab before launching himself high in the air for an incredible vertical slice that killed both monsters simultaneously, giving Cogger a rare double kill in the game.

While Cogger’s double kill is certainly impressive, it’s worth pointing out that the danger level in this special arena quest wasn’t particularly high. Taking on two monsters at once is certainly a challenge, but the Kulu-Ya-Ku and Tzitzi-Ya-Ku are both lacking compared to some other monsters in the game, like the devastating Anjanath or deadly Odogaron, for instance.
Even so, getting a double kill in Monster Hunter World is still impressive simply because of how unlikely it is to happen. Most of the time when players encounter two monsters at once, it’s because there’s a turf war going on between the beasts while they’re out on a hunt. Typically these turf wars don’t last very long, and players will soon find themselves chasing whatever monster they’re hunting across the map, and far away from whatever was battling it. Combine this with the fact that it’s usually hard to tell exactly when a monster is about to die, and it’s easy to see how trying to pull off a double kill in the game could be tricky.
Now that Cogger’s double kill is making some waves in the community, it will be interesting to see if other players attempt to top it somehow.
Monster Hunter World is available now for PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release planned for later this year.
