Strictly found in the Wildspire Waste, Boulder Bones are one of the most localized crafting materials in Monster Hunter World. Used to upgrade items and build new gear, they’re worth the effort of digging through bone scrap piles while different beasts attack from all sides. Luckily, players have a big array of quests to complete along the way.
Keeping the action going, there’s rarely a dull moment to be had between hunts. The ones that do allow a little more breathing room only boosts the time characters have to check their surroundings. Forcing a wide range of travel with some big monster takedowns along the way, it will be hard not to find all the Boulder Bones players can carry by the end of the trials.
14 Prickly Predicament
This might require the least amount of battling on the list, gathering materials instead of taking out a monster. It will also give players the most time to explore bony piles while they search for 20 Bauble Cactuses, traversing the most areas out the bunch.
Climbing vines, rocky bridges, and spawn points all play a big role in the collection, the quest is an adventure in itself. Monsters will be lurking around the Wildspire Waste, supplying action for those that can’t live without it.
13 Gettin’ Yolked In The Waste
Meowscular Chef needs a favor, some ingredients for his new dish. Players will have to steal 2 eggs from a Kulu-Ya-Ku, head East from the Southwest camp and the nest will appear. Once the egg is retrieved it’s a dash back to camp, monsters will follow and chase the player until they drop it.
A Ghillie Mantle is the perfect item to bring along, disguising the player while they make the jaunt. Keeping the stamina up is key otherwise it will all be for nothing when the egg drops.
12 Horned Tyrant Below The Sands
Another takedown that’s attached to the main story, this Diablos can’t be avoided. A sandpit will be accessible in zone 8, starting and forcing the fight. Tiring it out and taking it requires some serious dodging ability as it will come full force from the start.
Evade and lure until the brute slows down, ramp up the offence and it should be pretty vulnerable at that stage.
11 Twin Spires Upon The Sands
The most difficult monster to handle in the Wildspire Waste, Diablos are likely to burst out of the sand when they’re disturbed. As soon as players get into range they will attack so be prepared, defense will play a key role in the fight. A pair of earplugs will also come in handy as Diablos has the ability to stun using its powerful roar, don’t get caught off guard and empty-handed.
Tiring it out is the safest option as it presents the most problems at the beginning, becoming dramatically weakened when it’s tired, the beast will be easy to defeat.
10 The Pain From Grains
A medicinal trip rather than a hunt, the Meowscular Chef needs some Gajau oil to lubricate the joints. Sending the player to take out 7 of them, a new canteen can be unlocked if the deed is done the first time around. Sector 10 is the easiest location, a small lake where the numbers really appear.
Easy enough to kill, Gajau can be enticed onto dry land where the fish are left defenseless. Plenty of time is left for the gathering of resources, bone piles included.
9 Exterminator Of The Waste
Another point in the main story, this quest is more of an all-out massacre, having to take out 14 Vespoids. Not the most difficult task due to their weak attributes, players can use a slinger to pick them off from afar. The Meowscular Chef will send players to sector 9, a small muddy area where the games can begin.
Players can also revisit the Rathian nest and start taking them outright from the source if waiting from them to respawn is too time-consuming.
8 Landing The Landslide Wyvern
A capture quest for the Barroth, instead of relentless battle it’s time to use some gentler tactics. Instead of interrupting research, it’s now the focus of it but the nature of the best makes it especially tricky. It’s a revisit to the Smart Biologist after the Snatch The Snatcher quest has been completed.
The Barroth can’t be trapped in the water and the mud won’t work either– it’s time to lure it in and put the beast to sleep.
7 Royal Relocation
Time to lock and load for the next target, hunting a Rathian is not to be taken lightly. Find the Laid-back Botanist to begin the hunt, a Rathian nest is blocking some important research and players have the dangerous task of moving it. The good news is the prize money and a Botanical Research item come with victory.
The nest can be found in sector 12 at the top of some climbable vines, make sure to bring some fire resistant gear.
6 Snatch The Snatcher
The first capture quest in the game, players will have to get ahold of a Kulu-Ya-Ku. Find the smart biologist in Wildspire Waste to begin the task– with only 50 minutes on the clock it had better be quick.
The key is waiting until Kula-Ya-Ku starts limping before trying to capture the creature, make sure not to go overboard and kill it. While travelling North to sector 4 from the Southwest Camp, there’s an opportunity to retrieve a Boulder Bone.
5 The Best Kind Of Quest
This quest is mandatory so players don’t have a chance to pass it up. Protect a group of scientists from the Wildspire Waste while they go out to investigate the evidence. This includes taking down a Barroth for 2520 zenny.
Keep the eyes peeled while along the way and players might stumble across a bone pile containing the valued ingredient.
4 Sinister Shadows In The Swamp
Hunting down the Jyuratodus is a step up and the reward shows it– a 700 zenny increase isn’t a big jump but it’s progress. Not only will the player have to venture out into Wildspire to find a wandering scientist, but the nasty creatures will come out in full force. Mitigate the threat as much as possible but the main goal is the fishlike serpent.
3 Hired In The Spire
This time the Barroth is interfering with important engineering research, a sin that can’t be forgiven. This will be more of a chase than a battle. As the monster’s health starts to drop, it needs to reapply the mud that players slice off it. Going through 3 different sectors, trying to lock it down is a challenge in itself.
Luckily, this wild goose chase will give players an excuse to cover some ground and pinpoint any potential bones along the way.
2 The Piscine Problem
Another day, another Jyuratodus, more interfering from the aquatic snake. This time it’s a trip to sector 10 and a search of the lake, both the charging Gajau and the target will be there. Pay attention to both throughout the fight so players don’t get blindsided while attacking.
Try to prevent fleeing, as it only comes back to sector 10 to sleep. A 50-minute time limit and 3240 zenny should be enough motivation.
1 The Lord Of The Underworld Beckons
Only available to those that get to the Master Hunter rank, it’s available on a rotating schedule. The quest rewards are perfect for those searching for a wide variety of bones, luck is an important factor so make sure to increase the stat before beginning.
Crimson fruit nodes are the target, collecting the resources from sector 10,9,16, and 7. A hefty zenny reward is a prize, along with valuable bone hunt time.
